Tim Cork and Ushaka ready for a big Fastnet challenge

Sail 4 Cancer - About Us

Set up by a team of sailing enthusiasts in 2001, all of whom have lost a family member or a friend to cancer, Sail 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of water based days out and short-breaks for British families affected by cancer.

We also make grants to UK based care institutions and support research into the positive effects of sport (e.g. sailing) and how it can help with cancer prevention and recovery.

Tim is taking on the Rolex Fastnet 2017 whilst raising funds for Sail 4 Cancer .

He explains why: “I became aware of Sail 4 Cancer when on a sailing holiday in Turkey. I went sailing with two of the charity's founders and was impressed with the approach the charity took. My own father had been living with cancer for some time and his health was gradually deteriorating.

Unbeknowst to me, they nominated by family for a respite holiday. The mere fact that Dad had been nominated for a holiday gave him a real boost - it gave us all something to look forward to amidst hospital visits and blood test results. It was to be our 'final' holiday with Dad and it gave us all valuable memories to cherish.

By supporting Sail 4 Cancer in this year's Fastnet, I will be remembering Dad but also raising funds for this great charity in the hope that other families like mine might also benefit. Cancer affects so many of us personally so please give generously... thanks for your support."

Please support Tim and give him your words of encouragement using the form below.

Thank you
