"As a Phase 3 Cadet sponsored by Maersk I know that 24 hours in a liferaft will be a tough challenge, and one I hope never happens to me for real at sea. Having lost a close family friend, Henry Allen, to cancer in October 2013 at only 4 years of age, I know the profound effects that cancer can have on families. Fortunately the Merchant Navy Bears allowed us to donate and name one of the bears in his name to allow family and friends of Henry Allen to follow his adventures around the world and to raise awareness of childhood cancers, which is why he is doing his cadetship with me and is sponsored by Maersk. Where he goes, I go - unfortunately this time! WHO VOLUNTEERED ME FOR THIS? Glenn? That boy needs a serious slap! In all honesty I know how much families need help and support when someone has cancer and this is my first chance to help families living with cancer. I know how much help Henry's family needed, and got, throughout his short life. It will be fantastic knowing that I helped raise money for other families fighting this dreadful disease for once. Now GIVE ME YOUR HONEY - Sorry, I meant - MONEY! Now, where are my waterproofs?
